Ministry of Health: Bars, cafes and restaurants to close

The Government has announced new measures to tackle coronavirus.

"New measures are being taken to prvent the spread of the virus," said the Ministry of Health. The Minister of Health Vassilis Kikilias stressed that, "The restrictive measures are not being adhered to."

The Director of the National Public Health Organisation (EODY) Sotiris Tsiodoros announced that since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic there have been 190 cases in Greece.

The following will close: shopping malls, cafes, bars, all catering establishments (apart from delivery and take away businesses), museums, archaeological sites, sports centres and beauty centres.

The following will remain open: supermarkets, bakeries, chemists and private health services.

Special measures will be taken for employees belonging to vulnerable groups.

The Government had already announced other measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus on Thursday. Courts were closed for 2 weeks as were children's centres, gyms, theatres, arts events and entertainment centres. On Friday 13th it was announced that museums and archaeological sites will close until 30 March.
