CORFU. The Regional Administration has placed plastic bollards on Eth. Paleokastritsa Rd at Kontokali in order to change drivers΄ behaviour and prevent accidents and loss of life.
Ionian Islands Regional Administration has placed plastic bollards on Eth. Paleokastritsa Rd at Kontokali to prevent drivers from making U-turns.
It is already illegal for drivers on both sides of the road to make U-turns but it has been an 'unwritten law' that it is acceptable and people's lives are put in danger on a daily basis.
The Regional Technical Works Department has now placed plastic bollards at the Kontokali - Gouvia Marina junction (at 'Paramythoupouli') in an effort to prevent drivers from making illegal U-turns which have led to so many accidents as well as to loss of life.
Ionian Islands Deputy Governor for Technical Works Manolis Orphanoudakis told Enimerosi that the Regional Administration wants to invest effort into changing drivers' behaviour and increasing road safety by taking actions such as that on Eth. Paleokastritsa Rd.
