Where motorcycles can park in Corfu Town

CORFU. There will be temporary pilot measures over the festive period until proper signage and road markings have been placed.

The Municipal Technical Works Department has issued the following announcement:

Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality announces the implementation of temporary traffic measures for the Christmas and New Year period in Corfu Town regarding the parking of motorcycles.

The following are designated as parking areas for motorcycles:

- Giorgiou Theotoki St. from the Stamatiou Desylla junction to Mantzarou junction and extending to where it meets San Rocco Square, on the right-hand side in the direction out of town towards San Rocco where ther already signs.

- The motorcycle parking area on Mantzarou St. will be in use from the Giorgiou Theotoki junction to the Samara pedestrian precinct on the side opposite the taxi rank.

- On the section of Scholemvourgou St. between Markora and Giorgiou Theotoki there will be a row on each side leaving the space in the centre free for pedestrians.

- In Stamatiou Desylla St. there will be an area designated for motorcycle parking from the junction with Giorgiou Theotoki to the 1st Municipal Theatre emergency exit on the right-hand side of the road.

- In Capodistriou St. at Pentofanaro where there is a parking area opposite the Arkadio Hotel - this will be extended to the public toilet in the Upper Square.

- The existing parking area will used on Agoniston Polytechniou St. from the junction at Victoros Dousmani to the waiting lane for the car park in Lower Square on the left-hand side.

- In Agoniston Polytechniou St. opposite the Old Palace from the entrance to Dimarhou Kolla Sq. (Kofinetta) to the fork at St. Michael's Palace.

At all of the above the Highway Code applies as regards the prohibition of stopping and parking at crossroads.

In addition, for the festive period P8 signs will be put up prohibiting any kind of traffic in the section of Samaras St. between the Municipal Theatre and the Regional Administration building.

As stated above, initially these will be temporary and pilot measures for the festive period and will come into force permanently once the signs and road markings have been placed.
