This morning - following last night's fearful fire in Mantouki - finds three people in Corfu General Hospital. There is also a 13-year-old girl, who suffered only minor injuries thanks mainly to her mother's selfless action.
According to the latest information from the hospital, one man is in the Intensive Care Unit in what is considered to be extremely critical condition. In addition to his burns - for which he will need to be taken to Special Burn Recovery Centre - he also inhaled a large amount of carbon monoxide.
The mother and father are also in poor condition. The mother saved her 13-year-old daughter by holding her when she jumped from the 3rd floor balcony and is now hospitalised with multiple fractures following the fall.
The father was rescued from the roof of the burning building by the Municipal crane truck which had rushed to the scene. He is now hospitalised with burns.
Today's photos of the 3-floor house in Mantouki show the extent of last night's fire in one of Corfu's most densely-populated areas.
It is still not clear what the cause of the fire was and an investigation is being conducted by Corfu Fire Department.
