Midnight meeting at Maraslio Town Hall - All Corfu schools closed today

CORFU. All Corfu primary, junior high and high schools will remain closed today.
The decision to close the schools was agreed by the Mayor, Civil Protection department and the Education department.
The local Civil Protection coordinating committee met at Maraslio Town Hall just before midnight with all representatives from all the services and organisations involved.
The information coming from throughout the island to the Municipal Authorities is that there is a large number of fallen trees on both main and rural roads - in several cases leading to damage to the electricity network - and cases of flooding.
According to Meropi Ydraiou, they are lloking into the possibility of declaring a state of emergency to help speed up the process of compensation for those affected.
