CORFU. A total of 354 people were arrested and 114 cases solved involving rape, theft & burglary, drug trafficking & possession and other offences.
The Ionian Islands Regional Police has published data regarding arrests in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonian and Lefkada in the month of October 2019 along with information about the most important cases.
1. A total of 354 people were arrested - 64 in Cephalonia, 212 in Corfu, 50 in Zakynthos and 28 in Lefkada.
The most significant of these were 1 attempted rape, 27 for drug trafficking and possession, 27 for theft and burglary and 72 for offences regarding foreign nationals.
2. A total of 114 cases were solved, the most important of which were;
- 1 attempted rape
- 27 theft and burglary cases
- 26 drug trafficking and possession cases
- 61 other offences
3. During the investigations a number of items were confiscated, the most important of which were:
- Cocaine: 151g
- Unprocessed cannabis: 5.165kg
- 5 knives / clubs
- 250 items from illegal trading
- 2,800 Euros
The most important cases solved were:
- Cocaine trafficking in Corfu - 16/10
- 5 cases of phone fraud in Corfu and other areas - 18/10
- 2 arrested for drug trafficking in Cephalonia - 31/10
- Arrest in Corfu of person with a European arrest warrant - 31/10
