Family donates organs of 28-year-old who lost his life in Messonghi accident

CORFU. Airlift organised by Corfu Hospital and National Transplant Organization in the early hours of Friday morning.
The 28-year-old man had been fatally injured in a road accident in Messonghi.
Teams of doctors from Italy and Greece arrived at Corfu General Hospital during the night to facilitate the transfer of the organs.
The young man had been seriously injured in a road accident in Messonghi last Friday afternoon and was taken to Corfu Hospital where he was hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit until Thursday night, when he passed away. The loss of his life then gave hope to other patients in need thanks to the brave and generou decision of his family.
Hospital Director Phivos Kakavitsas expressed his condolences to the family and said, "Well done to the family for taking this decision".
This is the third airlift of donated organs for transplants from Corfu Hospital in the last two years.
