CORFU. The canopy will be taken down at the end of the tourist season and put up again at the beginning of next year΄s season.
The new councillor responsible for Vidos Island Spyros Neratzis announced:
"Today we took a small step towards the gradual rectification of the poor operation of Vidos Island. This process will not cease until the this small paradise has been given back to locals in excellent condition.
The canopy at the shuttle departure point was put up last Sunday (15/9) and was completed today - offering shade and a much-improved image.
A blackout canvas was put up to keep the area cool and a sign was put up indicating the departure point. The missing metal bars were replaced and the canopy frame was painted - making it much more presentable. The canopy will be taken down at the end of the tourist season and put up again at the beginning of next year's season.
Everything was done quickly and efficiently thanks to goodwill and cooperation.
We would like to thank the following for their excellent work and assistance:
- Antiquities Inspectorate Director Ms. Tenia Rigakou
- Corfu Port Authority administration
- 'All Together for Corfu' volunteers Spyros Tsilibaris and Petros Lavranos
- The shop 'Zachras Canopies'
- Kaloudis 'Kapasign'
- Architect Nikos Trifonas once again
The work continues!"
