Achilles΄ arrow has been with the Directorate of Conservation of Monuments for the last five years

It was removed from the Achillion Palace by a team from the Directorate in 2014. According to sources at Corfu Archaeological Services, the arrow - which is 'noticeable by its absence' - is not the original but a post-war copy because the original went missing between the 1st and 2nd World Wars. It is unknown when the Ministry will replace the arrow.

'Achilles Dying' was created by the well-known German sculptor Ernst Herther in 1884 for Empress Elisabeth of Austria and is identified with the Palace and Corfu.
