Public complaining that there are fewer shuttle services to Vidos Island

After the shuttle service to the small island had been awarded to a contractor the number of shuttles soon decreased again with the last one coming back from the island at 18:30 according to the complaints. The complainants remember that it used to be that the last shuttle was just before midnight (at 23:00 at least) allowing people to have a swim and then relax and eat at the restaurant.

This is no longer the case with the municipal shuttle boat and so the public and the Serbian visitors can only really go in the morning whilst in the evening there are only tourist groups and special restaurant customers. The hotel company which has leased the restaurant says it only deals with the transportation of its own customers and doesn't get involved with the general public.

The contractor of the municipal shuttle boat had trouble finding a captain and the Municipality says that it was due to this that the shuttle service started late this year. A month ago two captains were finally found and the shuttle services could operate from morning to late at night. However, a short time later the morning captain left and the number of shuttles are now only as many as the remaining captain can carry out.

The same sources in the Municipality say that after the final evening municipal shuttle the contractor continues to provide a shuttle service for tourist groups with his own boat and for the same price (2 €) could take or bring back other members of the public.

The programme of daily creative activities for children on Vidos Island is due to begin in a few days. This will take the place of the usual summer camps, which couldn't go ahead this year due to the non-compliance of the Municipality with the necessary regulations (fire, safety etc.).
