CORFU. "Gioconda΄s Smile" organised by Chapter HJ-34 Corcyra and Corfu Music Conservatory.
25 years after the death of the famous composer Manos Hadjidakis, his outstanding work "Gioconda's Smile" will be performed for the first time at the newly-renovated Mon Repos Theatre on Monday 29 July.
The local chapter of the Greek Diaspora organisation AHEPA, Chapter HJ-34 Corcyra, will be collaborating with the Corfu Music Conservatory once again to put on the concert.
"Gioconda's Smile" was the first work of the Greek composer to be recorded in a studio in New York. The atmospheric music in combination with the unique natural environment at Mon Repos guarantees a unique musical evening.
The Artistic Director at Corfu Music Conservatory Kimonas Hitiris will be conducting and the Conservatory Children's Choir will also be taking part. Amongst the 40 or so musicians in the orchestra will be the Corfiot Socrates Anthis, who worked with Manos Hadjidakis for years.
Singer Maria Farantouri will be accompanied on piano by the excellent Takis Farazis.
