Corfu Easter: Traffic measures and police checks

CORFU. Corfu Police Press Officer Giorgos Konstantis announced the special traffic measures and police checks that will be in force over the Easter weekend.
There will be special measures on Good Friday and Easter Saturday and police will also be doing checks for illegal products and fireworks.
From Good Friday afternoon traffic will not be allowed into Corfu Town and vehicles will be diverted to special parking areas. Members of the public can then take the special free shuttle buses into the historical centre. Police will be present to deal with any emergencies and to allow any ambulances or other vehicles to pass.
GOOD FRIDAY (26 April)
From 14:00 until the end of the events traffic from the Douglas Column to NAOK will be prohibited as well as the side streets and all the streets from Alexandras Ave. leading to the Historical Centre. At the Desyllas-Rizospaston Voulefton junction traffic will be diverted towards the post office.
From 18:00 traffic will gradually be stopped from the New Port ticket offices towards Spilia and Loh. Vlaikou St. leading to the open-air market and vehicles will have to park at the port.
EASTER SATURDAY (27 April)
From 07:00 to 15:00 and 19:00 to 01:30 the same measures will apply.

In the New Port (OLKE)
At the National Sports Centre (EAK)
At the General High Schools (for permanent residents)
Eth. Antistaseos Rd. (Emporiko Kentro)
There will be free bus transfers:
- From the New Port to Spilia
- From the National Sports Centre to the Dimokratias and Alexandras junction (Douglas Column)
The traffic measures will be implemented in collaboration with the Municipality and Corfu Port Authority.
Highway Code regulations regarding illegal parking will be enforced without exception. Illegally parked vehicles will be towed away.
