Palm Sunday in Corfu Town

CORFU. The procession, which is the biggest litany with the Sacred Relics of St. Spyridon, set off on Sunday morning.
This litany was established in 1629 in remembrance of the island’s miraculous deliverance from the plague, which the Church and believers attribute to the island's patron saint Spyrison. The first procession took place on Palm Sunday in 1630.
One of the main customs of the procession is the inclusion of all the island's Philharmonic Bands - 18 in total.
The procession follows the following route:
- Set off from Church of St. Spyridon
- Kofinetta
- Eleftherias St. (St. George's Gate)
- Arseniou St.
- Dozenlot St.
- Nik. Theotoki St.
- Mih. Theotoki St.
- Dim. Kolla St.
- Moustoxidou St.
- Capodistriou St.
- Ag. Polytechniou St. - Palace of St. Michael & St. George
- Eleftherias St. (Liston)
- Nik. Theotoki St - Church of St. Spyridon (Finish)
