CORFU. Laodamas is organizing the 22nd Folklore Festival this weekend.
The 3-day festival will take place from 22 to 24 March at the Municipal Theatre in honour of those who fought for Greek independence in 1821.
The numbers participating in this annual event has been continuously growing and it is the largest cultural event in the country in terms of groups taking part.
The Secretary of Laodamas Nikos Perros, a key figure in the event organization, said, "Preparations for the 22nd Festival began before Christmas. Any difficulties have been overcome and we are now ready for the event. The willingness of all those involved, including the teachers of all the groups, and the spirit of cooperation has produced a tremendous result! 38 dance groups with over 1,000 dancers of all ages, 24 musicians, 22 teachers and dozens of others involved is a huge number.
