Traditional Dance Festival organised by Lykeio Ellinidon — May 20–21
CORFU. Accompanied by a five-piece musical ensemble led by traditional choir conductor, Apostolos Valsamas.
For the fourth consecutive year and on the occasion of the anniversary of the Union of the Ionian Islands with Greece, the Lykeio Ellinidon will be holding a Traditional Dance Festival on May 20 and 21.
The main event will take place on Wednesday evening, May 20 at 6:30 p.m. in San Giacomo Square, featuring dances and songs from Corfu, Crete, the Peloponnese, Skyros, and Asia Minor.
The performances will be accompanied by a five-piece musical ensemble under the direction of our traditional choir conductor, Apostolos Valsamas.
The cultural societies we are hosting on our island for the celebrations, from Koroni and Skyros, will be participating in the festival as well as the Athinagoreio Primary School dance group.
The following day, May 21, all groups will parade and then perform a short programme of traditional dances at the fountain in the Square.
