CORFU. See the construction of a huge heart made from aluminium cans.
Following their impressive Christmas tree, which also helped spread the message of recycling, the enterprising Sinies Cultural & Educational Society found another impressive way to get the message across. Volunteers at Sinies Recycling Centre created a huge heart from aluminium cans for St. Valentine's Day - expressing their love for recycling.
"To all of you lovers out there, and to all of you who simply love your island (and therefore love recycling too), we wish a very Happy St Valentine’s Day!!!"
Sinies Recycling Centre in North Corfu was one of the first to be set up last summer in the middle of the waste crisis that the island has been going through in recent years. The message spread quickly amongst environmentally-aware residents who decided to take matters into their own hands. Corfu now has lots of recycling centres from north to south which are attempting to reduce the volume of waste as much as possible - as the island doesn't have a waste recipient (landfill).
