South Corfu hit by tornado during the night

CORFU. Electricity cables were cut and roofs damaged.

South Corfu was hit by a tornado in the early hours of Sunday morning. According to a post from Argyrades community president Spyros Mitsoulis, the tornado hit the area of Agios Giorgios Argyrades at around 3:15 on Sunday morning. Electricity cables were cut and roofs were damaged. The roof of Agios Giorgios cells was completely destroyed and initial information indicates that roofs of nearby buildings were also damaged.

DEI crews are in the area repairing the damage and are also in Ai Yiannis Peristeron, where a tree fell on electricity cables.

The Fire Service has been called out to Moraitika, where there was a landslide.
