CORFU. The ST. Spyridon procession takes place on the first Sunday of November at 11:00.
The route:
Setting off from the Church of St. Spyridon it will pass along the following streets:
Philharmonikis St.
Mich. Theotoki St.
Evg. Voulgareos St.
Vikt. Dousmani St.
Polytechniou St. - Palace of St. Michael and St. George
Eleftherias St.
Nik. Theotoki St.
St. Spyridon Square (Plakada tou Agiou)
Church of St. Spyridon
The 'First Sunday' procession was established on 29 October 1673 and takes place on the first Sunday of November every year in commemoration of the miraculous interception of the saint in saving Corfu from a deadly plague. The plague was first identified in the suburbs and soon spread all over the town. Then suddenly at the end of October it stopped after bringing death to thousands.
