CORFU. Lefkimmi residents carried out their protest today despite the cancellation of the parade.
The school parade may have been cancelled due to the weather conditions but Lefkimmi residents still got their message across.
Dozens of residents from South Corfu gathered as planned at Pentofanero at 11:00 to deliver their own NO (OXI) to the current situation in their region - centred on the riot police and the waste problem.
Carrying a banner 'SOS Crime in Lefkimmi' and the other English language banner they have used at other demonstrations (e.g. the airport) they yet again demanded a solution 'For our island...for our children...Corfu in danger' along with photos of the rubbish and the riot police. They then marched from Pentofanero to the entrance to the Old Fortress.
The demonstration then proceeded with the presence of the police to what would have been the VIP platform at the parade.
