CORFU. The hospital pharmacy also officially received its licence - which had been outstanding since 2010.

The office of the Hospital Director Phivos Kakavitsas has announced that the hospital's request for an exceptional subsidy over and above what is included in the budget in order to purchase drugs has been approved by the 6th Regional Health Adminstration. The extra subsidy - 900,000 Euros - will allow the pharmacy to purchase high-cost drugs for the chemotherapy and oncology/hematology departments as well as other hospital departments until the end of the financial year.

In a separate decision on 24 September the Ionian Islands Regional Governor Theodoros Galiatsatos officially completed the process of licensing the hospital pharmacy. This matter had been outstanding since the hospital moved to the present building at the end of 2010. The new administration inherited this long-running problem and at the beginning of 2017 submitted a new file for the licensing of the pharmacy to the Decentralized Administration. This was formally approved in January 2018.
