Lefkimmi residents to hold protest demonstration at Achilleion Palace

CORFU. The demonstration against the landfill will take place during the opening ceremony of the Ionian Islands Diaspora Conference with Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania.
In order to publicise the waste management problem in Corfu as much as possible, Lefkimmi Cultural Society has decided to hold their next protest outside the Achilleion Palace on Wednesday night, when the opening ceremony of the Ionian Islands Diaspora Conference will take place.
A representative announced that it will be a peaceful demonstration where they will declare their opposition to the Lefkimmi landfill and the police presence in South Corfu with banners.
Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania will be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony and the President of Greece Prokopis Pavlopoulos will open the conference proceedings on Thursday, with local, national and international media present.
