CORFU. Celebratory atmosphere at Gouvia Marina for the awards ceremony.

The Awards Ceremony took place yesterday at Gouvia Marina Sailing Club for the winning crews in the 33rd International Brindisi - Corfu Regatta. The Regatta ends every year with a celebration party where all the international crews have the opportunity to get together and form bonds of friendship.

The President of the Municipal Sports and Cultural Organization and Deputy Mayor Nikos Korakianitis and the Italian Consul Giancarlo Bringiotti were present at the Awards Ceremony.

The Regatta is one of the most important sea events in the Mediterranean and the most important open-sea event in the Adriatic in terms of numbers of participants and level of difficulty. It was organized for the first time in 1986 and helps connect the people of the Adriatic and Ionian Islands in a bond of cooperation and friendship.

The Regatta sets off from Brindisi Port, sailing parallel to the Italian coast to Otranto. The boats then cross the sea and pass through the Diapontia Islands before finishing at the port of Kassiopi in Corfu. Gouvia Marina offers mooring space to the boats and the Awards Ceremony is held there the day after the finish.

Organizers: Gouvia Marina Sailing Club and Circolo Della Vela Brindisi (Brindisi Sailing Club).
