Brothers row from Igoumenitsa to Corfu

CORFU. Nikos and Apostolos Gountoulas are well-known in the field of rowing and open-sea rowing, having taken part in Greek, international and Olympic competitions.

On Sunday 27th May they rowed from Igoumenitsa coast to Corfu, arriving at about 11:30 after three-and-a-half hour's rowing. The two world champions arrived at the Corfu Sailing Club, where a small reception had been organized for them and they took the opportunity to speak of the need for the historical Club to not to close. 

The aim of their crossing was to help develop collaboration between the Igoumenitsa and Corfu clubs as well as to encourage the establishment of a regular race between the two ports.

As they approached Corfu, they were accompanied by some children from the Club in rowing boats. At the 'finishing line' they were met by the Club President, Tilemahos Gavalas, the ex-President and ex-Vice President of the Greek Rowing Club, Kostas Pavloyiannis, the Club Vice President, Giorgos Dimoulis, the Club Secretary, Alis Pavloyiannis, the coach Giorgos Notaropoulos and others.
