CORFU. The meeting of Temploni Cultural Society members outside the closed gates of the landfill facility ended at about 22:00 on Saturday night.
The attendees were updated on what happened in the 2-day trial by the President, Ms. Papanikolopoulou, and the lawyer, Ms. Himariou, and there was a discussion about the significance of the court verdict.
Residents were clearly satisfied with the verdict and but those that spoke expressed not only their sense of vindication for their efforts but also their concern about what was going to happen now.
There was clear opposition to any use of the overfull unit apart from the promised reconstruction. They stressed that they weren't opposed to the use of the baling facility as part of the so-called intermediate measures as long as the bales that have already piled up are removed from Temploni as promised by the Cleansing Services (SYDISA).
