Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Cleansing arrested at Temploni landfill

CORFU. Attempts were made this morning to dump refuse at the Temploni facility.
Following a council meeting on Saturday night, a muncipal refuse truck arrived at the Temploni landfill this morning despite the presence of local residents blocking access to the old units in the facility. The residents tried to prevent the truck from dumping refuse by the baling facility and tensions ran high.
At the site were the Mayor Kostas Nikolouzos, Deputy Mayor for Cleansing Services, Spyros Aspiotis, and Deputy Mayors Noni Mastora, Giorgos Pantelios, Andreas Goulis, Spyros Kaloudis and Markos Prentoulis as well as Councillor Yiannis Kritikos. There is also a strong police presence and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Cleansing were arrested.
