CORFU. Ektoros Botrini and the Restaurant Association talk to Enimerosi.

The Corfu Food & Wine Festival presented awards to father and son, Etrusco and Ektoras Botrini for their pioneering culinary work and their contribution to the Corfu and Greek cuisine.



"At least I received the award while I am still alive - they're usually given after death!" Ektoras joked when he spoke to Enimerosi about this recognition of his work. Something is beginning to happen as regards the Corfu cuisine. I can see young people, good chefs and some very good restaurants. This shows that we can only get better."

The delicious dishes that the Corfu Chefs Club prepared together with the College of Tourism delighted everyone right up to the end of the event.

The new President of the Restaurant Association, Nikos Vergetis, was pleased with the participation of local businesses and producers. However, he added that gastronomy is an area that still hasn't been fully appreciated and needs to develop.

"We have a vision and we want to develop it but businesses also need to start contributing to this.  Ektoras Botrini is the person who has developed gastronomy throughout Greece - not just Corfu. He is the one that we have to thank that people come here to enjoy the cuisine. For that reason, as a businessman and as President of the Restaurant Association, I would like to thank him for his contribution."
