CORFU. The disagreement between the prosecutor and the examining magistrate as to whether the man accused of the manslaughter of Eleni Spitieri should be remanded in custody means that the case will go to the Council of Misdemeanours.

Until recently this would mean that the accused would continue to be remanded in custody. In the last few years, however, those accused have been kept under house arrest and obviously not allowed to leave the country. This is what happened with the 60-year-old accused man, who is now awaiting the decision of the Council of Misdemeanours.

The other two people were charged with misdemeanours and were released immediately, with the court taking into account their mental suffering due to the death of the woman.
