CORFU. Corfu Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) and the Greek Gastronomy Guide, is inviting all Corfu businesses involved in the primary, food and tourism sectors, to attend the presentation of the ‘Culinary Destinations’ Project on Thursday 19th April at 19:00 at the Chamber of Commerce.

‘Culinary Destinations’ is a collaborative project from SETE, INSETE, Marketing Greece and the Greek Gastronomy Guide with the Corfu Chamber of Commerce as the Local Ambassador. The project aims to highlight the potential of each location via the combination of Tourism and Gastronomy. To achieve this goal, following the recording and pinpointing of resources (products, production, local cuisine, dishes and restaurants), the following 3 sets of action will be developed:

1. Networking

2. Training

3. Promotion

The project focusses on four main areas:

- Development of the local culinary identity and enhancement of collaborations,

- Strengthening the added value of the destinations

- Increasing demand for local tourism products

- Enhancement of the culinary branding of the destinations

Based on these, Culinary Communities are organizing themselves according to quality, locality and collaboration, exploiting the culinary resources of each area and creating a strong cultural and tourism identity so that each place - in this case, Corfu - can be promoted as a Culinary Destination. The originality and local character of the cuisine provide comparative advantages for a destination aiming to achieve holistic and sustainable tourism development. For this reason, and to maximize the effectiveness of the actions, the Culinary Destinations Project in each area demands excellent collaboration between the organizers, the local ambassador and the culinary community - agri-food and catering professionals.

At this meeting, the plan and the requirements for professionals to be included in the Corfu local culinary community will be presented, as well as the creation of a coordinating team that will collaborate with the project representative.

The detailed presentation of the project will be made by Mr. Giorgos Pittas, SETE and Greek Gastronomy Guide representative.
