CORFU. Preparations for the construction of the new terminal have resulted in the closure of the car park on the south side of Corfu ΄Capodistrias΄ Airport.
The closure of the airport car park has caused reactions from those who use it. Visitors to our English language section on enimerosi.com and our Facebook Page Enimerosi Corfu News, in particular, have been expressing their concern.
Yiannis Papazoglou, Fraport's Communications Manager, told us: Due to the closure of the car park in order to facilitate construction work we are at the moment providing a parking area completely free of charge opposite the airport and next to the indoor swimming pool. At the moment 160 parking spaces are available there, which will increase to 220 at peak season. We estimate that this is sufficient for an airport the size of Corfu 'Capodistrias'.
The company decided to offer the car park free of charge in compensation for the changes in progress. Signs will shortly be put up directing people there.
