Corfu conductor a rising star

ATHENS. The up-and-coming, award-winning 34-year-old Corfu conductor, Giorgos Balatsinos, distinguished himself at one of the most important international conducting competitions with works from 20th and 21st century composers at Concorso Internazionale Giancarlo Facchinetti in Italy.
Out of 128 top-quality international competitors, he reached the finals, where he won third prize conducting works by Stravinsky, Copland, Grisay, Murail, Togni and Weir.
At his recent appearance in Greece with the Athens State Orchestra at the Athens Concert Hall, he received glowing notices and has been asked to conduct orchestras in Germany, Russia, Poland, Romania and Italy in the 2018-19 season.
