Regional Governor’s Statements

“An important project for Corfu Town and the whole island is now being completed. It was one of the many projects that unfortunately started a long time ago but didn’t progress,” declared the Regional Governor, pointing out that this project was initially integrated in the 3rd Community Support Frame in September 2005.

“It took 13 whole years for the project to come to completion and be fully functional in Corfu Town, ensuring both road safety and a smooth flow of traffic. It is not the first project of this kind that we have had to deal with. Thanks to the efforts of the Deputy Regional Governors Nikoletta Pandi and Dionysios Tsoukas, along with the Technical Service and the Management Authority, the long-standing problems came to the surface and were finally dealt with. Today, we are pleased to sign this contract which, if it is complied with, means that the work will be completed within 10 months. Hopefully, by the beginning of 2019 we will have a completely improved road after so many years of traffic and road safety problems and too many road accidents.”

“We will be monitoring the project and also working to complete other incomplete projects from the past in our region,” continued the Regional Governor. He stated that the next matter for the Regional Administration was the integration of the ‘Spilia’ project in a funding programme.
