Tourist businesses and organizations extremely worried about the waste crisis carrying on into the tourist season

CORFU. On Tuesday, the Hotel Owners’ Union, the Federation of Tourist Accommodation Owners and Corfu Business Association are holding a press conference on the subject of the waste management crisis.
The island’s tourist businesses are worried about the impasse the problem of waste management has come to and are expressing their serious concern. With, on the one hand, the government’s clear statement that Lefkimmi landfill should become operational and, on the other, the absolute refusal of south Corfu residents to allow this, tourism professionals are extremely concerned seeing as that the tourist season is just round the corner.
