Town Council: Hall packed out for the meeting on waste management
CORFU. The Town Council hall at Mon Repos is completely packed out for the meeting on waste management now in progress.
Large numbers of people have come to the Corfu Town Council meeting which has been convened solely to discuss the problem of waste management.
It’s clear that the majority of Corfu residents realise the significance of the problem and its consequences for everyday life and the economy. Lefkimmi residents, who are protesting against the operation of the landfill there, have come both in organized coaches and individually. The same goes for the residents of Temploni and the surrounding area. There is a strong police presence here.
The Corfu MPs and the Ionian Islands Regional Governor have not arrived yet, although they have been invited.
