Two members of the gang were arrested – a 48-year-old and a 35-year-old. Another two members of the gang are still being sought.

CORFU. The Corfu Drug Enforcement Agency, working together with the Attica (Athens) DEA, were able to break up a 4-member gang which had been distributing heroin in Attica. The 2 men who were arrested plus the other 2 who are still wanted have been charged with forming a criminal gang, selling drugs and possession of weapons.

On Saturday 11 November, the Corfu DEA in a coordinated operation with the Attica DEA were able to locate and arrest two verified members of the gang in Attica. Prior to the arrest, the Corfu DEA, over a period of months, had been able to collect evidence of the gang’s activities.

Their research had uncovered the identity of the gang members as well as the organization of the gang and each member’s role. They were also able to discover their method of heroin distribution in various areas of Attica. It appears that the 48-year-old is the leader and the 35-year-old his assistant and that they were regularly distributing heroin over at least the last four months along with the other two members who are still wanted.

After searching the residences of the two arrested men, in the presence of a magistrate, the following items were found and confiscated:

At the 48-year-old’s home:
  • 1,967g heroin
  • A ZASTAVA gun
  • 50 cartridges (6.35 diam.)
  • 2,000 Euros
  • 3 electronic weighing scales
  • 2 mobile phones
At the 35-year-old’s home:
