CORFU.Electricity on the seaward side of the Garitsa seafront road will be cut off to allow work to be done on a retaining wall.
The Regional Deputy Administrator, Nikoletta Pandi, has made an announcement for residents in the Garitsa area that there will be no street lighting on the seaward side of the seafront road so that Corfu technical department can carry out work on the retaining wall.
This necessary measure has been taken so that the work can be done safely and machinery can be set up in safety in the near future.
A one-way system will also be set up on the section of the road between the Desyllas factory and the Upper Square in order to section off the seafront area where the works will be carried out. This is to facilitate the smooth, safe and timely execution of the work.
For one year
One lane of the road going towards the square will be out of use between the crossroads at Agoniston Polytechneio St. (NAOK) and the crossroads at Alexandrou Desylla St. Sections will be removed from use in stages, starting from Agoniston Polytechneio St.
It is estimated that this situation will last for approximately one year.
Residents from the area and from the town when taking walks along the seafront are requested to avoid using the seaward pavement and use the park side instead both for safety reasons and in order to adapt to the future works site that will be there.
