Online platform for land plot clearing now open – Deadline: April 30

CORFU. Non-compliance carries severe administrative penalties and hefty fines.
The Municipality of North Corfu informs residents that the online platform of the Ministry of Digital Governance for submitting Plot Cleaning Declarations https://akatharista.apps.gov.gr has opened, in the context of implementing the new Law 5281/2026.
For the convenience of citizens, the following is highlighted:
1. Burning Deadline – April 30:
Special attention is drawn to the fact that the period during which controlled burning of plant material (prunings, etc.) is permitted ends definitively on April 30, 2026.
2. Cleaning Obligations & Online Declaration:
All owners, usufructuaries, tenants, or users of plots and open spaces within or near residential areas are required to complete the clearing of their properties and submit the relevant online declaration by June 15, 2026.
Regular maintenance and upkeep of these areas is mandatory throughout the fire prevention period (from May 1 to October 31).
REMINDER
The required clearing includes:
- Cutting down and removing dry and broken trees and branches.
- Removing flammable vegetation (dry grass, leaves, dry branches).
- Thinning dense shrub vegetation.
- Removing flammable materials, objects, and waste.
- Safe collection and transport of all cleaning residues.
- The disposal of cleaning residues in public spaces or together with household waste is prohibited.
Applicable plots:
- Areas within town plans or settlements,
- Land within a distance of up to 100 metres from community boundaries,
- Plots outside town plans that contain buildings, provided they do not fall under forest legislation.
3. Fire Use Ban from May 1:
From May 1, with the official start of the fire prevention period, any use of fire outdoors is strictly prohibited.
Residents are urged to complete the necessary agricultural work and the clearing of cultivation residues within the current two-week period, always observing the prescribed safety measures.
Sanctions:
The Municipality of North Corfu reminds the public that failure to comply with clearing regulations, as well as violation of the burning ban after April 30, entails severe administrative sanctions and strict financial fines.
