CORFU. Emphasis on extending the season.

(Central Corfu Municipality) The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands participated once again in the leading tourism exhibition PHILOXENIA–HOTELIA 2025 in Thessaloniki, from 14 to 16 November 2025, hosted at the stand of the Ionian Islands Region.

The Municipality was represented by the Deputy Mayor of Sustainable Tourism Development and Public Relations, Spyros Halikopoulos, who held a series of targeted meetings with market stakeholders. During these meetings, he highlighted Corfu’s comparative advantages as a destination, focusing particularly on elements that differentiate the tourism product and contribute to strengthening the shoulder months of the season and the winter period.

This year’s event had an anniversary character, as PHILOXENIA celebrated 40 years of dynamic presence. The main conference, titled “Philoxenia in a Digital Era – Beyond 4.0,” showcased the crucial role of digital transformation in tourism, with references to smart applications, big data, technological innovations, and sustainable practices. Special emphasis was also placed on gastronomy as an integral part of the modern tourism experience.

PHILOXENIA–HOTELIA is considered one of the most important exhibitions in the tourism and hotel industry in Greece. This year’s event featured approximately 550 exhibitors from Greece and abroad, while more than 4,300 B2B business meetings were held between exhibitors and hosted buyers. According to estimates, the number of visitors reached 20,000 tourism professionals.

The exhibition is aimed at both the domestic and international tourism markets. This year, exhibitors from 18 countries participated, with 110 hosted buyers from at least 36 countries, confirming its international character and the heightened interest in partnerships within Greek tourism.
