The plants of Asia. A journey into nature

CORFU. Educational programme and art workshop at the Museum of Asian Art.
(Museum of Asian Art) The Museum of Asian Art of Corfu, as part of the Ministry of Culture’s outreach initiative "Green Cultural Routes", is implementing the educational programme titled: "The Plants of Asia. A Journey into Nature."
The programme is aimed at pupils in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade of primary school and will take place on Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23. The goal of the activity is to familiarise pupils with the natural heritage of Asia and raise their awareness on environmental issues.
Initially, during their tour of the Museum, pupils will discover the importance of plant and floral decoration in Asian works of art. Through observing the exhibits, they will learn about the symbolism of plants and flowers in different cultures of the Asian continent, identifying both similarities and differences.
Next, special emphasis will be given to tea cultivation, with a diorama representation of China’s rice fields in the “chado” tea ceremony room. Through this experience, pupils will gain insight into the production process of green tea and rice, understanding their deep significance in the daily life and culture of other people.
The activity concludes with an art workshop, where children will express themselves creatively by painting porcelain and creating small mosaics.
This programme highlights the harmonious relationship between humans and nature in Asian cultures, fostering understanding and respect for the environment among pupils.
