CORFU. The concert will take place at the Old Fortress on August 7. The leading Greek singer has now been recording songs for 60 years and the Philharmonic Band is celebrating its 120th anniversary.
An important event for Corfu music lovers. Following the performances it organized with Gastouri Philharmonic Band in New York, the charity foundation Lifeline Hellas - which operates under the auspices of Princess Ekaterina of Serbia (of Greek heritage) - has responded to requests from members of the Band and is organizing a concert in Corfu which will be of benefit to the needs of the island.
The leading Greek singer Tolis Voskopoulos has now been recording songs for 60 years and Gastouri Philharmonic Band - the oldest in Corfu - is celebrating its 120th anniversary. To celebrate this double event there will be a unique performance at the Old Fortress on 7th August with some of the money going towards equipment for the Paediatric Clinic at Corfu Hospital.
For 2 hours the one and only Tolis Voskopoulos will be performing his hits accompanied by the 55 musicians in the Gastouri Philharmonic Band, including soloists Manolis Karantinis on the bouzouki and Thanassis Vassilopoulos on clarinet.
Acharavi and Kanalia Mixed Choirs will also be taking part in sections of the concert with over 100 singers. The concert is sponsored by 7 Arts Centre and sevenfestival.
Prince Alexander of Serbia will be attending the concert with his wife Princess Ekaterina as will board members from Lifeline Hellas. The foundation has also sent invitations to Queen Sophia of Spain and Queen Elizabeth of Britain.
