The Municipal Art Gallery is collecting books for a good cause
CORFU. With a view to playing an active part in social life and especially everyone’s right to have access to culture, the Municipal Art Gallery is collecting books to donate to the library at present being created at Corfu General Hospital.
They are collecting children’s stories, picture books, novels and poetry collections as well as books on art, history and philosophy. The books can be new or second-hand as long as they are in good condition.
The project to create a library and an Information Service at Corfu General Hospital is being coordinated by Petros Kostagiolas, assistant professor at the Ionian University, along with internship students (Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology, Department of Informatics) plus volunteers and in collaboration with the Scientific Council and Administrator of the hospital, Phivos Kakavitsas.
The aim is for the hospital library, apart from the academic content, to become accessible to all patients – young and old.
The Gallery will be collecting books from Tuesday 2nd January to Sunday 14th January at the Periodic Exhibition section in the colonnade during opening hours (Tuesday- Sunday 10.00 – 16.00).
