Hellenic National Youth Council

CORFU. This year the festival will begin on Saturday 10 June with a football tournament at Olympos΄ pitch.

The Corfu branch of the Hellenic National Youth Council (ESYN) is organising its 18th Festival with awareness-raising and information events on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (26 June).

This festival of the Hellenic National Youth Council is an important sport and cultural event that highlights the creative and competitive lifestyle as a shield against addictions. Since 2005, thousands of children have shown their talents and the beauty of collective effort while receiving the messages of the anti-drug movement.

The festival provides opportunities to raise awareness of the dangerous policies that want drugs to be free and those that fuel them, while it is a platform for claiming support measures for education, sport, culture and state structures such as Diaplus and Dimop Nikos Moros that help in prevention and treatment.

This year the festival will begin on Saturday 10 June with a football tournament at Olympos' pitch. This event is taking place for the 12th year and is co-organised by the Olympos and Achilleas Nymphon Sports Clubs. 350 children from 11 clubs will be participating.

The festival will continue on Saturday 1 July in the Lower Square with a handball tournament and will end on Sunday 2 July in the yard of Diaplus with an art night.

The Hellenic National Youth Council's events are being co-organised by the Diaplus Friends, Parents and Guardians Association and the Hellenic Women's Federation and are being supported by dozens of sports, cultural, labour and scientific associations and local government bodies. We invite you to attend, supporting the efforts of the children and promoting the slogan for a drug-free society and not a society with free drugs.
