Hellenic Public Properties Company: ΄Achilleion Palace visitor experience being upgraded΄

CORFU. New digital tour installations in the palace gardens offer visitors an immersive journey through its history.
(Hellenic Public Properties Company) The Hellenic Public Properties Company (ETAD), a subsidiary of the Hellenic Corporation of Assets, is elevating the visitor experience at the Achilleion Museum in Corfu through innovative digital tour installations and high-quality audiovisual productions.
As part of this initiative, three immersive black booths, a triangular screen, and a polygonal structure with contemporary design have been installed in the palace gardens. These cutting-edge features guide visitors through the rich history of the Achilleion Palace, its architecture, and its creators, through five visually striking video productions.
The outdoor installations provide engaging educational content, transporting visitors back in time—to Empress Elisabeth of Austria, widely known as Sissi, who built the Achilleion as her personal sanctuary, and later to Kaiser Wilhelm II, who transformed it into a symbol of imperial power.
The thematic documentaries, featuring acclaimed Greek actors including Nikos Kouris, Kora Karvouni, Afroditi Doriti, and Vicky Papadopoulou, explore the monument’s history, architecture, and evolving role up to the present day.
Highlights of the Achilleion Palace—its artistic treasures, interior frescoes, furnishings, and iconic statues—are also presented through these productions while restoration works continue, ensuring that the museum remains accessible and inspiring until it reopens fully to the public.
This project has been developed in collaboration with the Directorate of Modern Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, with the aim of showcasing the Achilleion Palace, attracting new audiences, and transforming the historic palace into a vibrant hub of knowledge and cultural exchange.
