Campaign to collect food and essential items for "The Smile of the Child"
CORFU. So that all the children can enjoy Christmas.
The Smile of the Child, true to its mission of supporting every child and family in need in Greece, is organising a nationwide Food and Essential Items Collection Campaign in preparation for the Christmas season. This initiative runs until December 13, 2024, aiming to address the ever-growing needs of financially struggling families.
We invite all individuals and businesses to participate in this nationwide effort to collect food and other basic necessities. Together, we can ensure that no child is left without Christmas joy.
The collection, management and transportation of donated items are carried out with complete transparency. Specifically, the items offered are transported in the organisation’s specialised vehicles (refrigerated trucks, specialised coolers) to its Support Centres and Item Banks. All items are managed and stored by category, following strict safety and hygiene regulations.
Below is a list of the food and essential items being collected, as well as the 14 collection points across Greece where donations can be delivered:
- Food Items: Salt, flour, infant formula (No. 1 & 2), baby cereals, evaporated milk, breakfast items (cocoa, biscuits, croissants, cereals, rusks, honey, jam, chocolate spreads, juices), sugar, pasta, oil, spices, vinegar, legumes, rice, tomato sauce, packaged Christmas sweets (melomakarona, kourabiedes, etc.).
- Baby Care Items: Diapers (No. 4, 5 & 6), baby wipes, shampoos, bath products.
- Personal Care Items: Shampoos, body washes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.
- Household Items: Aluminum foil, plastic wrap, wax paper, rubbish bags, disposable gloves.
- Cleaning Products: General-purpose cleaning supplies, disinfectants, fabric softener, laundry detergent, bleach, etc.
- Paper Products: Toilet paper, kitchen paper, napkins.
