Rock School Corfu workshops 15-17 September
CORFU. The workshops are aimed at the age groups 6-11, 12-17 and 18-35.
The Rock School Corfu is organising STAGEDOOR ROCKS workshops with the renowned choreographer, dance instructor, musical theatre artist and creator of STAGEDOOR, Cindi Triantou Trent.
The workshops are aimed at the age groups 12-17 years, 6-11 years and 18-35 years.
They include 10 hours of instruction (choreography, acting, singing and Musical Theatre Performance Coaching).
Participation cost:
€30 for the age groups 12-17 & 18-35.
€15 for ages 6-11 years.
Music and vocal preparation - Christina Metallinou: vocal and violin instructor. Former soloist at Thessaloniki Opera, creator of the Violeti Quartet and the Azzurro Duet. Former instructor at the Music School of Serres. With numerous appearances as a violinist and soloist in orchestras and theatres in Greece and the UK.
Choreography, Acting and Musical Theatre Performance Coaching: Cindi Triantos Trent.
Cindi Triantos Trent was born in America to Greek parents. She studied dance, music and theatre from her childhood and simultaneously participated in performances of the Boston Youth Theater. Her professional studies began at the Boston Conservatory of Music, and she graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Theater Education, specialising in Musical Theatre. Certified Autism Movement Therapy Provider.
In Greece, she taught from 1984 to 2020 at the professional dance department of Deree – The American College of Greece, in the disciplines of Jazz Dance, Tap Dance, Musical Theatre, Kinesiology and also created and taught courses such as "Body and Movement Recognition," "Introduction to Musical Theatre," and recently "Workshop and Performance for Musical Theatre." In addition to her classes, she choreographed for the annual dance performance of the Deree Dance Company and directed the Dance Department for 10 years. At the college, she directed and choreographed musicals by Andrew Lloyd Webber, including "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Song and Dance," as well as productions such as "America on Broadway - A Musical Revue" – featuring excerpts from American musicals that depict the history of musical theatre in America, "From Hollywood to Broadway" – featuring excerpts from rock and pop musicals, "Laughing Through Our Tears" – excerpts from recent Broadway works, and Olga Emmanuel's piece "Chryssothemis," "Dare To Dream," "The Disney Project," and recently "Fame and Other Issues."
She has also taught Aerobics and Pilates at the Sports Department of Deree College and Dance and Musical Theatre in the summer and afternoon programmes of Pierce High School. From 1995 to the present, she has taught dance and movement at the Veaki Higher School of Dramatic Arts and often choreographed the third-year musicals for the degree examinations of the Ministry of Culture. Some of these productions include "Chicago," "Fame," "The Boyfriend," "Crazy for You," "A Little Night Music," "Nine," "Gershwin and Porter." In 1998, she took on a series of classes (10 months) for the Scientific Association of Theatre Studies Graduates of the University of Athens, focusing on theatrical movement and dance for musical theatre, as well as choreography and organisation of school theatre performances.
From October 2001 to May 2005, she taught at the Traga Drama School, where, in addition to teaching, she also directed and choreographed the diploma examinations for the Ministry of Culture in dance. In 2004, 2009, 2017 & 2022, she was invited by the Ionian University of Corfu - Department of Music Studies, where she taught 10-day workshops on popular American musicals and then directed and choreographed a performance titled "Broadway" at Corfu Municipal Theatre.
She has extensive experience in teaching dance and musical theatre to children and has directed and choreographed numerous children's performances.
In Athens, she has taught at dance schools such as "Anna Petrova," "Kiki Maniati," "Mary Hatzimichali," "Fokas Evangelinos," "The Dance Institute," "Onstage Dance Center" and "Dance Life."
In August 2009, she was the choreographer for the theatre group "Schema" that toured the United States with the play "Troades" (The Trojan Women). In March 2010, she taught a Musical Theatre workshop (featuring the works "Wicked" and "Fame") for children and teenagers at the Paola Hadjilambri School of Theatre in Paphos, Cyprus. From August 2012 to April 2015, she taught Tap Dance and Musical Theatre at the New York Acting Studio in Athens. In September 2012, she directed a performance by Chronis Aidonidis with 300 participants at the Herod Atticus Odeon. In December 2013 and January 2014, she choreographed the production "Musical, My Love!" by Eugenia Manolidou at the Pallas Theatre. During the summer of 2014, she conducted the first "Musical Theatre Intensive" workshop alongside her colleague, vocal instructor Ms. Penny Rizou, at the Makis Petsis School of Dance. She continued to attend workshops in jazz, tap dance, musical theatre and creative movement in New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. From 1989 to 2014, she taught gymnastics, Pilates, Aerobics, Stretching and BodySculpt at well-known fitness centres in Athens. From 2004 to 2016, she was a Certified Pilates Instructor at Cocoon Urban Spa in Halandri, Athens. Additionally, she is a Certified Pilates and Zumba Instructor.
