CORFU. Yesterday’s exercise included rescue scenarios in Pentofanaro and Kofineta.
The pan-Ionian earthquake exercise, ‘Alcinous 2017’, took place yesterday morning. Organized by the Region of Ionian Islands with the Ant-Seismic Planning and Protection Organization (OASP), it was part of the efforts to improve the operation of the Civil Protection – Emergency Needs & Readiness department in terms of organization and collaboration between responsible bodies.
The purpose of Thursday’s exercise was to be prepared for an earthquake in terms of coordination, organization, collaboration and the improvement of planning for the reality - to acquire knowledge and experience so that emergency procedures can be as efficient as possible.
