Fire in Kofinetta: Elderly man rescued

CORFU. Fire broke out on the ground floor of a four-floor building in Kofinetta early on Wednesday morning.
The fire quickly spread to the first floor, according to the Head of the Fire Service, Efthymios Georgakopoulos. The Fire Service came immediately to the scene, rescued an elderly man and proceeded to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, the fire didn’t spread to neighbouring buildings and there was only material damage. The elderly man was taken to Corfu Hospital for precautionary reasons.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, Mr. Georgakopoulos told us.
