CORFU. A political memorial service for the executed fighters of ELAS (Greek People’s Liberation Army) and DSE (Democratic Army of Greece) will be held on Sunday on the tragic little island, which has finally and recently come under the ownership of the Central Corfu Municipality.
The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, together with the “Lazareto” Association, will hold memorial events on October 19, in honour of the fighters of the National Resistance and the combatants of the Democratic Army who were executed and buried there between 1946 and 1949.
Programme of events:
Saturday, October 18
10:00–11:00 a.m. – Laying of wreaths at the following monuments:

Sunday, October 19, at 12:00, on Lazareto island:

Laying of wreaths
Departure will take place at 11:00 a.m. from the New Port, with the return scheduled for around 1:30 p.m., after the ceremony concludes.
