Remembrance Service on Lazareto

CORFU.The Lazareto Association – the Corfu association of relatives and friends of executed Corfu political prisoners, 1946-49 – held their annual remembrance ceremony on the Lazareto islet on Sunday morning.
It was the second day of memorial events held by the association.
Fotini Vaki, the Corfu MP, attended the event and posted the following on Facebook:
‘A flower for the fighters of the National Resistance and Democratic Army who were executed on Lazareto. A carnation on the wall where they were executed. In the bullet holes and the chains that held their hands. They live forever!’
