CORFU. She was found in shallow water near the special needs ramp.
An elderly woman drowned on Thursday morning, at around 6:30, at NAOK.
According to reports, swimmers who were at the beach at the time, near the special needs ramp, found the woman in shallow water, unconscious. They immediately alerted the authorities.
The Coast Guard, the police, and an ambulance crew quickly arrived at the scene. Paramedics confirmed her death, and her body was transferred to Corfu General Hospital.
A preliminary investigation will be conducted by Corfu Coast Guard.
