Two ships collide in Igoumenitsa

CORFU. Both ships were prohibited from sailing until they are repaired, inspected, and deemed safe.

Two ships collided on Thursday morning, June 26 (around 10:15 AM) in the port of Igoumenitsa.

The "EKO Katania", which sails under the Italian flag and was on the Patras–Igoumenitsa–Bari–Venice route, collided with the "KYDON PALACE" — which was already docked — during its mooring at the port.

According to information from the Coast Guard, no injuries were reported from the collision, only material damages.

The "EKO Katania" had 34 crew members and 11 passengers on board, and was also transporting 377 trailers and 15 trucks.

Both ships were prohibited from sailing until they are repaired, inspected, and deemed safe.

As stated by the Coast Guard, the passengers who were scheduled to travel with the "KYDON PALACE" will continue their journey under arrangements made by the company.
